Ph.D. Students Hesen Liu and Jason Guo are doing research internships at Dominion Power in Richmond, VA. The research is regarding OSIsoft PI Data Historian real time data management and analytics. OSIsoft PI system is a time series database widely used in the
power industry. This research must be done on-site at Dominion because the PI platform and data are not open to outsiders. Hesen and Jason are working with engineers to integrate big data from different data sources, create the data driven model in the data historian and develop the applications and analytics based on the data historian. Hesen has this to say about his participation thus far, "For the research experience, we are learning the cutting-edge technologies of big data and improving our practical skills. Moreover, we are happy to work with alumni from the FNET group and appreciate their help and expertise."
