Two students from CURENT, Laura (Yin) Lei and Alice (Siqi) Wang, spent the last two weeks in Montreal learning about a new software tool being developed by OPAL-RT. The tool is called ePhasorSim and can perform continuous dynamic simulations of large power grids, which makes it quite useful as a dispatcher training simulator or for investigating new control algorithms and so on. Laura and Alice will report back with an opinion as to whether they think the tool can be useful in the development of the Virtual Grid Simulator for the Large Scale Testbed project.
