Three CURENT faculty members (Kevin Bai, Daniel Costinett and Leon Tolbert) and four present/former students (Ziwei Liang, Liyan Zhu, Yang Huang and Ruiyang Qin) received Most Popular Technical Article Award and Top Technical Article Award of 2022 from IEEE Power Electronics Magazine, during the 10th anniversary celebration ceremony in APEC (applied power electronics conference), one of the largest conferences in power electronics area.

The paper associated with these two major awards is Charging Electric Vehicle Batteries: Wired and Wireless Power Transfer: Exploring EV charging technologies. (https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/9802794). The paper provides insights on how to use power electronics technology to reduce the size of both on-board chargers and off-board extreme fast charging stations, as well as utilizing the on-board battery as power sources to deal with grid outage.
