Dr. Jinia Roy of the University of Wisconsin presented a seminar to CURENT faculty, staff, and students on Friday, August 8, 2025, in Min Kao #124. Dr. Roy’s presentation, “The Evolution of Marx Generator for pulsed power: Challenges and opportunities with Wide Bandgap devices”, reflected on the evolution of Marx Generators from spark gap devices to solid state devices. Dr. Roy also discussed how the operation of Marx generators can be improved with superior voltage regulation and minimized charging current peak from the input power supply.
Dr. Roy is the Thomas A. Lipo Assistant Professor at UW Madison and an Associate Director of Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium (WEMPEC).
CURENT students Saurav Dulal and Junjie (John) Yin provided FNET and LTB laboratory demonstrations during the seminar.
