Title: MISO Market Design Overview and Evolution
Abstract: This talk will give an overview of MISO electricity market development and some recent market design challenges. The topics include the development of co-optimized energy and ancillary service market, the introduction of ramp product, the integration of new resources, recent work on addressing reserve deliverability and the development of efficient market prices. It’ll also introduce the work on improving computational performance to enable advanced market design options.
Bio: Dr. Yonghong Chen, Consulting Advisor of Market R&D, has been with MISO since 2002. She played key roles in MISO Energy and Ancillary Service Markets startup. Dr. Chen led numerous market design projects, including the integration of Stored Energy Resource, a performance based two-part regulation compensation, and the configuration based combined cycle modeling. Dr. Chen also led the computational research that successfully reduced day-ahead market clearing time from 4 hours to 3 hours. She has been collaborating with research partners to develop next generation high performance computer based market clearing engines. Dr. Chen received a Ph.D. from Washington State University in Electrical Engineering and a MBA from Indiana University, Kelly School of Business.
