Students
CURENT seeks to develop education programs that will provide multi-disciplinary, team-driven, and systems-oriented educational opportunities to both undergraduate and graduate students. In support of these goals, the Center has set the following objectives for education program development:
- Design a multi-disciplinary curriculum focused on electrical energy transmission system analysis and problem-solving skills
- Develop connectivity with industry, partner institutions, and the larger power and energy system community
- Introduce undergraduate students to the possibility of pursuing careers in power and energy
In addition, CURENT provides the following opportunities targeted for graduate students:
- Graduate Research Assistantships available for M.S. or Ph.D. students with a $25,000 / year stipend plus tuition waiver & student health insurance
- Close working mentorship relationships with some of the world’s leading professors in the field of electrical engineering
- The opportunity for well-paid fellowships and co-op employment with CURENT industry members including Southern Company, Dominion Energy, Texas-New Mexico Power, & many more
