Dr. Qu will present a seminar titled, “Principles, Development, Applications, and Challenges of Flux Modulation Machines.”

Abstract: Flux modulation (FM) machines exploit multiple flux density harmonics to enhance torque density, and have thus drawn growing research interest due to their high torque capability and quality. This presentation first reviews their fundamental operating principles and typical topologies. It then introduces the concept of airgap flux editing as a means to maximize flux utilization, which offers a fresh perspective for investigating the theoretical torque‑density upper bound. Finally, practical application scenarios, inherent limitations, and key technical challenges are also discussed.
