CURENT and ORNL Host Department of Energy Workshop

February 4th, 2013

CURENT has teamed up with Oak Ridge National Laboratory to host a Department of Energy Workshop on February 5-6 at the Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park Hotel.

The two research groups are convening to lay out a roadmap for DOE’s Advanced Grid Modeling program, which will enhance power grid simulation tools, and ultimately lead to improvements in the way that scientists understand and develop new grid technology. The workshop has been organized by Tom King, CURENT's Director of Innovation & Industry, and DOE’s Infrastructure Modeling and Analysis Division.

Representatives from ORNL, DOE, UT, and a variety of industries will also be on campus to tour CURENT’s research facilities in the Min H. Kao Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Building.

CURENT is UT’s first NSF/DOE Engineering Research Center, and was established in 2011 to assist in improving the nation’s chronically overstressed electric power grid. CURENT-Logo_Transparent-tiny.png
