Title: IP/Entrepreneurship and I-Corps Overview
Abstract: The commercialization of intellectual property (IP) plays a key role in encouraging an entrepreneurial culture, but there are many factors to consider for startups as they attempt to bring their product to market. This presentation will focus on how innovation and IP connect with the bringing a new product to market. Topics for the talk include the distinction between innovation and discovery, various forms of IP protection, and valuable steps of the customer discovery process to consider in preparation for bringing a product to market.
Bio: Dr. Maha Krishnamurthy is Vice President of UTRF at the Multi-Campus office in Knoxville that manages all aspects of the commercialization of technologies developed at UT Knoxville, UT Institute of Agriculture, UT Chattanooga, UT Space Institute, and the Graduate School of Medicine. She then earned a PhD in particle physics, doing her graduate and then post-doctoral research at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park, California.
